Family

Our Epiphany

Everyone used to tell Ooma Tesoro: "You ought to jar your sauce". She never did except for a few family and friends. Her grandson, Michael Tesoro, continued making 'Ooma's sauce' for his family and friends. Michael kept hearing the same thing: "you ought to jar this sauce".

In the Summer of 2009, after making many batches of 'Ooma's sauce' to jar as gifts, as they had for many years, Robin and Michael Tesoro decided to take some jars to local farmers’ markets on the weekends. They were stunned by how quickly their sauce sold out at every market they went to. This encouraged them to take the next step and they were crazy enough to do so.

Now you can find Ooma Tesoro's at hundreds of fine food stores throughout New England.

About Us

Passion for food is one of the things that brought Robin & Michael together. They spent their first date at a fine food store where they stayed for hours (incidentally that very same food store now carries Ooma Tesoro’s Marinara Sauce).

They live with their two children, their dog, and 35 chickens in Berkshire County, Massachusetts.

Michael Tesoro, Founder & Chef

As a kid, when Michael wasn’t on the baseball field, he was with his family and extended family, especially his grandmother Ooma. She was always in the kitchen cooking something delicious from scratch and from the heart (no cookbooks, no recipes). To be with Ooma meant cooking with her, which is what he enjoyed doing.

Michael has had many careers - politics, international business, internet startups, big media (ESPN & Turner), but most importantly he has made Ooma Tesoro’s Marinara Sauce in his kitchen for family and friends for many years. Now he is making it for YOU.

Robin Tesoro, Co-Founder & Creative Director

Robin has spent most of her career around food. Finding the perfect prop: a spoon, a cup, a bowl, a plate, a platter to complement beautiful food for photos and set design for Martha Stewart Living Magazine, Martha Stewart TV and other food publications. Now she takes that experience to reinforce the Ooma Tesoro’s brand. And of course, taste testing.
